Yesterday, Sarah J Maas announced on her Instagram that today would be the day we finally got to drool over the cover of A Court of Wings and Ruin, the third (but luckily, not last anymore!) book in the ACOTAR series. Naturally, today was spent frantically updating Instagram to see if it had been revealed yet.
And here it is! The wait is finally over, and it was so worth it! Gorgeous, don't you think? Though the two covers are very similar, I must say I prefer the US one. The color is richer and there are more details, with the smoke and the patterns in the green behind her dress - and no one will believe me but I had a feeling it would be green and I WAS RIGHT!
Sarah J Maas also wrote in the reveal post on Instagram that the dress is adapted from fan art by Charlie Bowater, and this is the drawing that inspired it:
I've been on her account in the past, and this is just one of many amazing drawings she's made. If you want to see more, you can find her on Instagram or, if you fall in love with her work, purchase prints and such on her Society6 store.
Honestly, this came just in time, because waiting for Sarah J Maas books is painful. I'm so excited to read this book when it comes out in May - I think I might even pre-order it, which isn't something I usually do. These books just completely swallowed my heart when I read them last year, instantly finding their place among my all-time favorites. If you haven't read them yet, go get them so you can join the hype for May!
What do you guys think of the cover? Do you like it better than the last ones, or the other way around?
